Life | 15 Things I Learnt As A Blogger

My blog is coming up to its first birthday and it's been a fantastic journey. Before I enter Year 2 of blogging, I decided to do a bit of a blog refresh so you may have noticed some changes over here if you are a regular reader with the main difference being the layout. The purple and pink design that felt like you had entered a virtual eight year old's bedroom has paved way for a clean monochrome design thanks to a template at Pipdig.

Oh, and the other thing? I now have my own domain thanks to Go Daddy! Instead of going to, you can head straight over to and still find the same blog content from little old me :) And if that's not enough changes, I've also set up my own email address to go with the blog refresh so if you want to say hello, let me know at!

Phew! A load of changes right? But while I was doing all these changes, I thought I would take the time out to reflect what being a blogger meant to me, and the things I learnt along the way.
  1. You will struggle with balancing a full time job and blogging to begin with, but you will soon overcome this and find the time to blog
  2. Creating a professional looking blog will fill you up with so much joy, more than you ever imagined
  3. The same goes with purchasing your own domain!
  4. And even though you have one more email address than you actually need, there's nothing better than having an email at your domain
  5. You will be hooked up on bloglovin, and refresh your feed at every possible moment to fill your addiction.. you will also find yourself change from reading news articles on your commute to reading the latest blog post. After all, you HAVE to know what's new in make up right now so you can spend even more time trailing the Boots/Superdrug aisles
  6. If you haven't started on YouTube yet, you will start to wonder whether you should try it out yourself, and then dismiss it because you have no idea what your first video would be. It has to be something epic but chances are you'll do a "random facts about me" vid
  7. You feel like you totally need a Mac laptop/computer if only to take pretty pictures of it. I'm personally still debating about this and forever borrowing a sibling's computer
  8. Same goes for a DSLR... totally guilty of this one, I purchased a Canon 100D in white on Black Friday 2014...
  9. You thank God that clocks went forward so that you have more hours of that magical daylight which means you can take photos for the blog at 7pm #winning
  10. You find yourselves trawling the homeware aisles of Zara and H&M as well as finding yourself spending more time in IKEA and whatnot so you can find the perfect props for your blog photos. Fake flowers? Check. Pretty wallpaper sample? Check. Cute ceramic bowls/plates? Check!
  11. When your favourite bloggers host meet-ups, you will do anything to attend, stand in line to meet them, and completely act as a fan girl when they compliment you on your dress/likes your photo on Instagram
  12. You dream about the day you get invited for press releases and launches, and the day you do do get invited to your first press event as a blogger, it totally sets the mood for the day and all you can think about for the rest of the day is "Wow, I've made it in the blogging world!"
  13. You get totally stuck for inspiration to compose a blog post, but when inspiration strikes, you can bang out three blog posts one after the other and feel super productive
  14. You start creating/scouring the net for free printable weekly planners and schedules for all your current and future upcoming blog posts in an attempt to feel like you've got your life together
  15. You proudly tell your friends you have a blog and feel that sense of achievement of your little corner of the internet. Unite blogger friends!
Please say I'm not the only one who thinks like the above!
