Beauty | 5 Years of Topshop Beauty | Rio Rio Lipstick

I blame TopShop. If they wasn't celebrating their five years anniversary in beauty and if they hadn't released limited editions of past favourites, then I wouldn't have the temptation of walking into their store and picking up a new lipstick when what I really needed was a new blazer. Being a blogger whether its a #fbloggers, #bbloggers or #lbloggers (fashion bloggers/beauty bloggers/lifestyle bloggers), there is an invisible force that requires you to keep up with the latest releases. So is it really all that surprising when I walked out with Rio Rio? Probably not.
No longer solely a clothing store, Topshop has expanded with the weird and the downright wonderful from candy and jewellery to beauty and gifts - I mean their Oxford Street flagship store has a Bubbleology and a cupcake stand inside it for goodness sake!

Their beauty line was released five years ago and to celebrate their five years anniversary this year, Topshop has decided to release their most loved and best selling products over the years including Magic Liner in Engraved (a felt eyeliner in black), Glow Pot in Polished (a creamy highlighter) as well as various shades of their nail polishes including Boy Next Door (a pastel blue shade), Parma Violet (pastel purple shade) and Heart of Gold (a metallic gold shade) . Not satisfied with just that, these products have been rehoused in a beautiful limited edition packaging. The product itself is cased in a white and rose gold polka dot design, while their packaging is similar but with black cardboard - making one beautiful contrasting design.

It's a pity that the Bromley store I visited didn't have much items left in stock (quelle surprise..), but of all the products on offer, it was the lipsticks that my eyes settled on. I had an enjoyable time swatching all five of the lipstick collection in store: 2010's Rio Rio (a orange-red shade) 2011's Innocent (coral) and Ohh La La (a soft dusky pink), 2013's Nevada (a beige nude) and 2014's Beguiled (a deep berry wine colour).

I was torn between Beguiled and Rio Rio. Beguiled reminded me of Kate Moss 107 Rimmel lipstick making it a perfect choice for autumn lips whereas Rio Rio pretty much screams summer to me and I love the name! Someone take me to Brazil please!

Rio Rio is a matte creamy formula which leaves you with a bold lip. The colour itself is borderline orange/red and perfect if you're not brave enough like myself to wear a full on orange lippie. It doesn't bleed and lasts a long time thanks to the matte formula. I got so many compliments on this and for GBP8.00, it's not going to break the bank. Thanks to their purse friendly prices, I may have to go back into Topshop and pick up more of the collection if they're still in store. And while I'm at it, maybe actually pick up that blazer I need.
