Bluebird Tea Co | Cherry Lips | Brighton

Brighton Bluebird Tea Co

If I could have any drink for the rest of my life, there's a high chance that I would say tea. This humble drink channels both my British lifestyle and my Chinese heritage and I am always on the search for new teas to add to my tea cupboard. Yes, I have a cupboard that is entirely dedicated to tea. So, when I took a wander down the North Laine and The Lanes of Brighton recently and stumbled upon an independent tea shop that had canisters upon canisters of tea on the wall, you didn't need to ask me twice to step over the Bluebird Tea Co's threshold.
I'm very much a little kid in a sweet tea shop where I feel like I have the world at my fingers. And I suppose in a way I kind of do. There's green tea from China and Asia Pacific, rooibos tea from South Africa, and Darjeeling and Chai from India. I love how tea can be infused with so many different flavours that creates an incredible sensory experience - I mean, have you ever had Elderflower and Champagne for example? Or Watermelon tea? Or even try Blueberry Matcha Muffin - which basically tastes like you're drinking a liquified Blueberry Muffin!

After spending what feels like ages in the store and probably pestered the minds out of the ever so lovely staff at the shop, I couldn't help but leave with a packet of tea to go home with. My pickings of choice was Cherry Lips which was an instant winner because as soon as I smelt it, it smelt truly like cherries - delish! It wasn't until I got home, or maybe even the day after, that it smells (and tastes) exactly like those old school sweet treats of cherry lips - the jelly Haribo type sweetie in the shape of lips.. anyone remember those?? If you love that, then you'll love this.

I love the simplicity of this shop. It's nestled amongst the other quirky shops of the North Laine with a deckchair or two casually propped outside the store, a tea wall with canisters organised by colour according to tea type (black for black tea, red for red/rooibos tea, white for white tea.. you get the picture), and with a little barista section at the end where you choose to have any tea off the wall made up for you there and then. Not only that, but there's a little nook with cushions where you can sit back and chill for a few moments enjoying your new brew.

However you like your tea, I so strongly suggest you visit this place. They only have one location currently, and that's in Brighton on 41 Gardner Street, Brighton, BN1 1UN but there mayyyy be talks of it coming up to London!

I'll be bowled over if you don't leave with a sachet or two of tea.

Disclaimer - Bluebird Tea Co did not pay me for this post, I just really like tea and enjoy finding tea shops!
