Lucas Papaw Ointment | Review

Today I want to share my latest favourite product that has replaced many a chapstick and a lip balm including my favourite Nuxe Reve de Miel and Carmex Cherry. Lucas Papaw Ointment in its signature red packaging is a product not just for chapped lippies but also for burns and whatnot - it's a multiple use product and I'm so glad I picked it up.
I have been searching high and low for this product in London, UK but to no avail so when I spotted it in Hong Kong (probably Watson's?), I picked up two tubes rather than the solitary one. Partly because I knew it'd be difficult to source it again, but mainly because I'm just a forgetful whatsit so two increases my chance of finding one!
The packaging is a bright red squeezy tube style with a twist off cap which is great because it's more hygienic than a pot where you stick your finger in, and also means no spillage in the handbag. In terms of dispensing, I tend to squeeze on the tube just enough to dispense the quantity I need and use my finger to swipe off the amount and apply it directly to my lips, or wherever else I feel it needs it.
I personally find there's not much of a taste to it, and it's not sticky either as it feels like its absorbed quite well. While its really good for chapped lips, for severely chapped lips, I highly recommend exfoliating it either with a toothbrush or sugar scrub, and then apply.
You don't need a huge amount as its a slightly thick consistency so a little goes a long way. There is a slight smell to it which may be disagreeable to some but it doesn't bother me. I like putting this on as a kind of night treatment for my lips, and also before applying matte lipstick to smooth out any flakes or cracks, and also works double time as a lip primer. Win win =)

Enjoy,
