Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade

Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade Chocolate and Brush

Every three weeks or so, for the last five years plus, I will pop down to the salon to get my eyebrows threaded. And every once in a while, I will ask for them to be tinted, knowing full well it never works but just in case in the off chance it will. So I've had to resort to using an eyebrow pencil to do the rest to make myself slightly presentable. But when I found myself in Macy's, NY last year, of course I had to pick up the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade to see a) what the hype was all about, and b) really to see what the hype was all about.

A few minutes with the lady at the stand determined I was Chocolate, which is for dark brown hair with warm tones. In all fairness, that pretty much describes me considering I had highlights in my hair then and still do. There was the option to have the pencil version where you literally brush strokes onto your brows, but was advised these only last about six months whereas the pomade would last much longer. Considering that you cannot go into a London store to pick this up, I settled on the pomade even though I know international shipping does exist!

The pomade itself comes in a 4g glass pot with eleven shades to choose from, a lot more than any other eyebrow product that I can think of with choices including Auburn, Ash Brown and Taupe. The lady looked at my hair and my normal everyday make up to determine which shade would work best for me and then applied it using a brow stencil which was then gifted.

I also ended up buying the double ended brush to apply the product with which makes it a pretty hygienic application. There's a small angled brush with short stiff bristles on one end and a spoolie on the other to ensure your brows are in tip top shape. I personally don't think the brush is an essential purchase if you already have a brush that is similar.

My only gripe with this product is my fear that the product will dry out. The packaging reminds me of MAC/Bobbi Brown gel eyeliner pots (not really a surprise considering that the consistency of the product is pretty similar too) and they dried out so quickly even if I put the lid back on really speedily! Oh, and the other thing I noticed is that the product is made in "P.R.C." ... i.e. China?? I was half expecting France or something =/

A little really goes a long way with this product - you can see I've barely scratched the surface with this one, and I've had it a few months now though admittedly not using it every day. Once it's on, it's on. There's no budging with this one which I think is amazing. Swimming, sunbathing and all things summery is possible with this little pot and I can see why it's become a cult product so quickly.
